University of Dundee- Strathmore Trophy Competition

University of Dundee LogoThe School of Computing will once again be hosting the annual Strathmore Trophy on Tuesday 16th June from 10am-2.15pm.

This competition has now been running since 1996 and has always been really popular and enjoyed by all.

This year we are inviting teams of 4 pupils, who will be finishing their first year and entering into their second year of High School, to visit the School of Computing in the Queen Mother Building.  Please understand that we can only accept 1 team per school, due to entry numbers.  No prior programming experience or advanced planning will be needed, as pupils will be briefed about the task on the day, and there will be School of Computing staff and students on hand to provide assistance.

The day will begin in Lecture Theatre 4 (2G11) in the Dalhousie Building (building, no. 14 on the Campus Map: )and then move to the Queen Mother Building(no. 26 on the map), to start the activity.  We will return to the Dalhousie Building to decide and announce the winners, followed by a sandwich lunch in the Queen Mother Building.

To register your school for this year’s competition, please go to fill in the form. The closing date for registering is Tuesday 9th June.

Details of the competition will be revealed on the day, but you can get a feel for what might be involved by looking at some of the previous challenges at

When getting parental consent for this trip you may wish to ask if students can be featured in any press interest, we often have a photographer in attendance.

If you have any further queries please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
